Maybe you're thinking,
"Wow. This sounds great but I've already got a job."
Or,
"Wow. This sounds great but I need to find a job and they'll never hire me if I need three weeks off."

These are reasonable concerns.

Here are a few suggestions on how to end up in the Rockies this summer.

  1. Pray. Step out in faith and ask the Lord to open the door for you to go. The Edge is a great resource for you to prosper in your relationship with the Lord this summer.
  2. Talk to your employer. In the past most employers have actually been quite open to a two week program like The Edge if it is presented properly. Emphasize the educational aspects of the program. You might ask for this time off by saying something like this:
    1. I would really like to work for you this summer but I have one commitment I would really like to keep. Before I graduate from State U. I've wanted to attend this program at Colorado State University to take several classes not offered at State U. I would be willing to work as many different hours and shifts as necessary to accommodate this, but if at all possible I'd like to be able to take those classes. They most likely will not be offered again next summer.

If you don't yet have a job, mention your desire to attend these classes when you apply for the job. If you already have a job, contact your employer as soon as possible ask if there is anyway you could attend these classes.

  3. Persevere. It will be easier to flip channels and sleep in all summer than it will be to get to The Edge. Then again, flipping channels won't change your life. Trust the Lord and ask your parents and your employer! If necessary, work hard to raise the support. Persevere! Great things await you.
  4. Consider. The project will be held later in the summer. It is likely your job will be nearly at an end by the start of project. There will only be a week or two between the end of project and the beginning of the fall semester.
